Custom manufacturing · instant quoting, online ordering · 2026

A print studio that quotes itself, in the browser.

A Brisbane 3D printing studio with a live quoting tool at its centre. Upload a model, watch the price move as you tune the spec, and order in minutes. No account, and no waiting on an email.

01 · Brief

We built the quote as the product.

Filament & Form print custom parts, prototypes and short runs. Custom manufacturing is quoted the slow way almost everywhere: send us your file, and we will come back to you.

The brief was to put a real quote in front of someone while they are still holding the file. That gap between the enquiry and the answer is where jobs go quiet, and closing it had to happen without pretending the studio's judgement can be automated away.

Scope

  • Brand-led web design
  • Instant quote and order configurator
  • In-browser 3D model viewer
  • Material and finish library
  • Photography and render direction
  • Performance and SEO foundation

What mattered

  • A price reached without waiting
  • The file understood before it is quoted
  • Studio judgement kept in the loop

02 · Approach

Quietly, deliberately, in order.

01

A model is read in the browser, so dimensions, volume, surface area and triangle count come back immediately. The part renders in a live 3D viewer, solid or wireframe, so the customer can confirm at a glance that the right file went up.

02

Price is continuous rather than a form submission. Material, colour, layer height, infill, finish, quantity, rush and delivery each move the total the moment they change, and the breakdown stays itemised so nothing arrives as a surprise at checkout.

03

Material and finish were treated as content. Six filaments carry a property profile across strength, heat, durability, detail and flex, and five finishes run from raw layer lines through to vapour-smoothed with a drag comparison against the printed part.

04

The studio kept its voice on a dark, technical interface. Condensed display type, monospace for anything numeric, and a single accent that only ever marks the next action.

03 · Selected screens

From the finished build.

The quote configurator, with an uploaded model in the 3D viewer beside a print specification panel and the file's measured dimensions.
The filament library, presenting PLA, PETG, PETG-CF, TPU, ABS and ASA as cards with a property profile on each.
The finishes comparison, with a drag slider running the CAD model against the printed part above the five finish levels.
The services section, covering fast-turn concept models, one-off prints to specification and end-use components.

04 · Outcome

What the build delivers.

01

A price reached without waiting

02

The file understood before it is quoted

03

Materials and finishes compared in one place
